Lincoln Barrett — High Contrast — has been making drum & bass for over twenty years. Six albums on Hospital Records, a Grammy nomination for his remix of Jorja Smith, his music at the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. Remixes for Adele, Coldplay, London Grammar, Kanye West.

His 2024 album Restoration was a return to his roots — and the S2400 was part of the process, sampling vinyl and his modular rig through the 12-bit engine.

It's a strange thing, watching someone like Lincoln pick up something you built and just run with it. You obsess over things like the features, the signal path, the workflow — you ship it, and you hope someone out there gets it.

Then Lincoln gets ahold of the machine and really puts it through its paces — and it holds its own. It's not a novelty in his studio. It's a daily driver, sat next to gear that costs five times as much.

Every time he posts a new session on Instagram — chopping samples, layering beats, just working — it's a reminder of why we bother. We're genuinely grateful he keeps reaching for our machine. That means more to us than any review.
